What's so important about being married in a church?
Lots of people love traditional church weddings, especially in our lovely country and seaside churches. To get married in church means that you are inviting God, who is the source of all love to be at the heart of your relationship. In church we bless your marriage and pray that God will be with you in your life long partnership. It's a special moment in every couple's lives. This is one of the many reasons why we love weddings! How long in advance do I need to book my wedding? We need a minimum of three months before the day if you are marrying at short notice but you can book any time in advance, the earlier the better, as that means you are more likely to get the church and the time of your choice. Do I need to also have a registry office wedding if I get married in church? No, if you get married with us, you are legally married. |
Can I bring my own musicians, singers, performers?
Yes Can I have bells? Yes! We have bells in the following churches: St Michael’s, Lyme Regis, St John’s, Hawkchurch, St Giles, Chideock and St Candida and the Holy Cross, Whitchurch Canonicorum. We ring before and after the service and it's brilliant. Bell ringing costs £200 cash, the money goes to the ringers. Can my dog or other animals be involved in my wedding? Yes, if you have a special furry friend and they are well behaved, they can come to your wedding. They can join the procession or even carry the rings. Which church can I get married in? If you have a qualifying connection to our benefice or are getting married by special license you can have your ceremony in any one of our twelve fabulous churches. |
