Having served the local community of Whitchurch Canonicorum in the Marshwood Vale for over a a thousand years, Saint Candida and the Holy Cross (known locally as The Cathedral of the Vale) is a wealth of religious and historical significance.
We look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful church, which is the site of the holy shrine for St Wite, Dorset's patron saint. The church is open 10am–4pm every day for visitors. It is the focal point for St Wite's Way, our pilgrimage experience.
Our local worshipping community is small but faithful. We hold diverse services each month on the 2nd and 4th Sunday at 11am, like our children’s Short and Sweet with activities and sometimes live animals and our Healing Service, which attracts a wider congregation. We are blessed to have musicians and artists in the area who put on events and concerts to help raise funds and the community spirit.
It is very popular for weddings as it has fine peal of bells and can seat 110 people. It has a kitchenette and accessible toilet. There is a hall in the village which can be hired separately and to also provide overflow parking for larger events. Any questions, please ask Margaret.
